View source for Transverse flagella

The ribbon-like <I>[[flagellum]]</I> which winds to the cell\'s left and encircles the cell, usually in the <I>[[cingulum]]</I>. It has multiple waves, an <I>[[axoneme]]</I> running along its outer edge, and an inner fibrous contractile <I>[[striated strand]]</I>. It is used mainly for propulsion.
