SCHIZOSPHAERELLA Deflandre and Dangeard, 1938, p.1115-1117. Calcareous dinoflagellate genus. According to Kälin and Bernoulli (1984, p.414-415), forms in this genus may be dinoflagellates. However, Řehánek and Cecca (1993, p.156) firmly placed this genus in the dinoflagellate order Thoracosphaerales Tangen et al., 1982. Type: none designated.
