"plicatum" (Maier, 1959, p.318, pl.33, fig.1) Downie and Sarjeant, 1965, p.94. Holotype: Maier, 1959, pl.33, fig.1. Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently (and now) Baltisphaeridium. Taxonomic senior synonym (at subspecific rank): Hystrichosphaera ramosa var. gracilis (now Spiniferites ramosus subsp. gracilis), according to Sarjeant (1983, p.93). This combination was not validly published in Downie and Sarjeant (1963, p.92), since these authors did not fully reference the basionym. Age: mid Oligocene.
