TETRAPORINA Naumova, 1939, p.357 ex Bolkhovitina, 1953, p.102. Zygnematalean genus. Taxonomic junior synonym: Schizocystia (Appendix A), by implication in Elsik (1968, p.286), who transferred the "type species", Schizocystia rugosa, to Tetraporina - however, most subsequent authors (e.g. Backhouse, 1988, p.115) retained Schizocystia.
