"PROTOPERIDINIUM subgenus PROTOPERIDINIUM section LEJEUNECYSTA" (Artzner and Dörhöfer, 1978, p.1381) Harland et al., 1991, p.651. Combination not validly published: basionym not fully referenced. NOW Lejeunecysta. Originally Lejeunia Gerlach, 1961 (generic name illegitimate), subsequently (and now) Lejeunecysta, thirdly Protoperidinium subgenus Protoperidinium section Lejeunecysta (combination not validly published). Harland in Harland et al. (1991, p.651,653) included Protoperidinium (now Lejeunecysta) catomus and Protoperidinium (now Lejeunecysta) mariae in this section. Type: Gerlach, 1961, pl.26, figs.10-11, as Lejeunia hyalina.
