Originally Hystrichosphaera furcata forma aulosphaeropsis, subsequently Spiniferites ramosus? subsp. aulosphaeropsis. Questionable assignment: Lentin and Williams (1973, p.129). Taxonomic senior synonym (at specific rank): Avellodinium falsificum, according to Sarjeant (1985b, p.156-157). The name Hystrichosphaera furcata forma aulosphaeropsis was not validly published in Wetzel (1933b) since the species combination Hystrichosphaera furcata was not validly published. Age: Cretaceous.
