Holotype: Deflandre, 1939a, pl.11, fig.2; Stancliffe and Sarjeant, 1990, pl.1, figs.3,5; Fauconnier and Masure, 2004, pl.1, figs.7-8. Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Cannosphaeropsis, thirdly (and now) Adnatosphaeridium, fourthly Polystephanephorus. Stancliffe and Sarjeant (1990, p.200) retained this species in Adnatosphaeridium. This combination was not validly published in Williams and Downie (1966c, p.218), since these authors did not fully reference the basionym. Age: Early Oxfordian.
