Originally Hystrichosphaera, subsequently Hystrichosphaeropsis (combination not validly published), thirdly Spiniferites, fourthly (and now) Rottnestia. Taxonomic junior synonym: Hystrichosphaeropsis forficata (name not validly published), according to Slimani (2001a, p.194). Age: Senonian.
