Originally Galea (generic name illegitimate), subsequently Baltisphaeridium, thirdly Cleistosphaeridium. Taxonomic senior synonym: Galea (now Chiropteridium) galea, according to Sarjeant (1983, p.108-109). Age: mid Oligocene-Mid Miocene.
