"var. <I><B>ancyrea</B></I>" ([[Cookson and Eisenack, 1965a]], p.126, pl.14, figs.1-3) [[Strauss and Lund, 1992]], p.173.&nbsp; Holotype: [[Cookson and Eisenack, 1965a]], pl.14, fig.1; [[Fauconnier and Masure, 2004]], pl.76, figs.1-3.&nbsp; <B>Combination not validly published</B>: basionym not fully referenced.&nbsp; <B>NOW</B> <I>[[Cleistosphaeridium ancyreum]]</I>.&nbsp; Originally <I>[[Systematophora ancyrea]]</I>, subsequently <I>Systematophora placacantha</I> var. <I>ancyrea</I> (combination not validly published), thirdly (and now) <I>[[Cleistosphaeridium ancyreum]]</I>.&nbsp; Taxonomic senior synonym: <I>[[Hystrichosphaeridium placacanthum|Hystrichosphaeridium]]</I> (now <I>[[Cleistosphaeridium placacanthum|Cleistosphaeridium]]</I>) <I>[[Hystrichosphaeridium placacanthum|placacanthum]]</I>, according to [[Stover and Evitt, 1978|Stover and Evitt (1978]], p.84) - however, [[Lentin and Williams, 1981|Lentin and Williams (1981]], p.272) retained <I>[[Systematophora ancyrea]]</I>.&nbsp; Age: Late Eocene.
