<nowiki>*</nowiki><B><I>delitiense</I></B> ([[Ehrenberg, 1837b]], pl.1, figs.1,6) [[Deflandre, 1936b]], p.170&ndash;171.&nbsp; Emendation: [[Lucas-Clark, 1987]], p.167, as <I>Spongodinium delitiense</I>.&nbsp; Holotype: [[Ehrenberg, 1837b]], pl.1, fig.6.&nbsp; Originally <I>[[Peridinium delitiense Appendix B|Peridinium]]</I> (Appendix B), subsequently (and now) <I>Spongodinium</I>.&nbsp; Of the two illustrations provided by [[Ehrenberg, 1837b|Ehrenberg (1837b]]), only his pl.1, fig.6 shows a single specimen, which can thus be accepted as the type.&nbsp; However, the validity/authorship of this name may need to be reconsidered as it appears that [[Ehrenberg, 1837b|Ehrenberg (1837b]]) did not provide a description.&nbsp; Age: Late Cretaceous.
