A <I>[[plate]]</I> of the <I>[[apical pore complex]]</I> in some dinoflagellates which is ventrally situated, usually between the <I>[[pore plate]]</I> and the first <I>[[apical plate]]</I>. The preferred synonym of ventral apical platelet and the "X" plate of Balech (1974).
