A <I>[[tabulation type]]</I> in which the <I>[[Plate|plates]]</I>, usually numbering eighteen or nineteen, are arranged in four <I>[[latitudinal series]]</I>: the <I>[[Apical plate|apical plates]]</I> (A1-A3), the <I>[[Epithecal plate|epithecal plates]]</I> (E1-E4), the <I>[[Cingular plate|cingular plates]]</I> (C1-C4) and the <I>[[Hypothecal plate|hypothecal plates]]</I> (H1-H4). The <I>[[theca]]</I> is fundamentally divisible into two lateral halves, these halves being separated by a serrated <I>[[sagittal suture]]</I>, which is probably <I>[[homologous]]</I> with the <I>[[fission suture]]</I> in taxa with a <I>[[gonyaulacoid-peridinioid tabulation type]]</I>.
