<B>Diagnosis:</B>Peridiniphycideans in which the <I>[[tabulation]]</I> accords with, or is derived from, the following pattern: five <I>[[Precingular plate|precingular plates]]</I>, five <I>[[Postcingular plate|postcingular plates]]</I>, five <I>[[Climactal plate|climactal plates]]</I> and one <I>[[Fundital plate |fundital plate ]]</I> ( <I>[[antapical plate]]</I>).  The first <I>[[postcingular plate]]</I> does not contact the last <I>[[postcingular plate]]</I>.<BR>
<B>Type genus:</B><UL><BR>
<I>[[Valvaeodinium]]</I> [[Morgenroth, 1970]]; Jurassic (Pliensbachian).<BR>
