Originally <I>Galea</I> (generic name illegitimate), subsequently <I>[[Hystrichosphaeridium xipheum|Hystrichosphaeridium]]</I>, thirdly <I>[[Hystrichokolpoma xipheum|Hystrichokolpoma]]</I>?. <B>Taxonomic senior synonym</B>: <I>[[Hystrichokolpoma rigaudiae]]</I>, according to [[Sarjeant, 1983|Sarjeant (1983]], p.104). Following I.C.N. Article 55.1, the species name <I>Galea xiphea</I> is validly published even though the generic name <I>Galea</I> is illegitimate. Age: middle Miocene.
