"leve" (Maier, 1959, p.308, pl.30, figs.1-2) Davey et al., 1969, p.16. Holotype: Maier, 1959, pl.30, fig.1; Sarjeant, 1983, pl.2, fig.3, pl.5, fig.1; text-fig.2. Originally Galea (generic name illegitimate), subsequently Baltisphaeridium (Appendix A), thirdly Cleistosphaeridium. Taxonomic senior synonym: Galea (now Chiropteridium) galea, according to Sarjeant (1983, p.108-109). This combination was not validly published in Davey et al. (1966, p.170), since these authors did not fully reference the basionym. Age: Late Oligocene-Mid Miocene.
