Holotype: Vozzhennikova, 1967, pl.26, figs.1-6; Jan du Chêne et al., 1986a, pl.44, figs.7-8; Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, text-fig.64; lost according to Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.109). Lectotype: Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, pl.15, figs.5-6, designated by Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.109); Harding, 1996, pl.1, fig.1. Originally Gonyaulax (Appendix B), subsequently Gonyaulacysta, thirdly (and now) Nelchinopsis. Stover and Williams (1987, p.11) retained this species in Nelchinopsis. Taxonomic junior synonym: Alaskadinium wigginsii, according to Stover and Williams (1987, p.11). Age: ?Valanginian or Early Hauterivian.
