Holotype: Vozzhennikova, 1967, pl.25, fig.5, lost according to Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.93). Originally Gonyaulax (Appendix B), subsequently Gonyaulacysta, thirdly Millioudodinium?, fourthly Rhynchodiniopsis?, fifthly (and now) Apteodinium. Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.93–94) retained this species in Apteodinium. According to Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.93), no potential lectotype is available. Lentin and Williams (1989, p.20) recommended that this name be restricted to the holotype. Age: Late Jurassic.
