Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently (and now) Cordosphaeridium, thirdly Tityrosphaeridium. This species was retained in Cordosphaeridium by Edwards (2001, p.G19). This combination, as a questionable assignment, was not validly published in Davey and Williams (1966b, p.91), since these authors did not fully reference the basionym. N.I.A. Age: late Oligocene.
