Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Cordosphaeridium, thirdly Cordosphaeridium?, fourthly Polysphaeridium, fifthly Achomosphaera, sixthly (and now) Operculodinium. Questionable assignment: Stover and Evitt (1978, p.147) as a problematic species. Age: late Eocene.
