Holotype: Deflandre, 1937b, pl.12 (al. pl.9), fig.9; Fensome et al., 1995, fig.1 — p.1885. NOW Rhiptocorys. Originally Micrhystridium (Appendix A), subsequently Ceratocorys, thirdly Microdinium, fourthly Microdinium?, fifthly (and now) Rhiptocorys, sixthly Phanerodinium, seventhly Phanerodinium?. Taxonomic junior synonyms: Microdinium irregulare and Microdinium smolenskiense, both according to Below (1987b, p.56) — however, Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.112) retained Ceratocorys (as Rhiptocorys) smolenskiensis. Age: Senonian.
