Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently (and now) Oligosphaeridium?. Taxonomic junior synonym: Hystrichosphaeridium (as Oligosphaeridium) vasiformum, according to Duxbury (1977, p.45) — however, McIntyre and Brideaux (1980, p.21) retained Hystrichosphaeridium (as Oligosphaeridium) vasiformum. Questionable assignment: Davey and Williams (1969, p.5). This combination, as a questionable assignment, was not validly published in Davey and Williams (1966b, p.77), since these authors did not fully reference the basionym.
