Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Baltisphaeridium (Appendix A), thirdly Multiplicisphaeridium (Appendix A), fourthly (and now) Oppilatala (Appendix A). Taxonomic junior synonym: Multiplicisphaeridium septispinosum Lister, 1970, an acritarch species, according to Eisenack et al. (1973, p.617). Age: Silurian (late Ludlow).
