Family Ptychodiscaceae

Ptychodiscaleans in which the motile cell is fundamentally gymnodinioid in shape, lacking specialized extensions or arms. The pellicle is formed primarily of cellulose or dinosporin and does not form a basket-like, peripheral skeleton.
