"tritonium" Eaton, 1976, p.299-300, pl.17, figs.2-3,6-7; text-figs.23C,24A-B. Holotype: Eaton, 1976, pl.17, fig.3; text-figs.24A-B; Bujak et al., 1980, pl.5, figs.7-8. Taxonomic senior synonym: Hystrichogonyaulax (now Phthanoperidinium) coroides, according to Fensome et al. (2009, p.54-55). Bujak in Bujak et al. (1980, p.72) considered Phthanoperidnium tritonium to be a taxonomic junior synonym of Phthanoperidinim comatum. Age: Early-Mid Eocene (see Aubry, 1986).
