Difference between revisions of "Microdinium ellipsoideum"

?<B><I>ellipsoideum</I></B> [[Deflandre, 1936b]], p.178, pl.6, figs.5-7 ex [[Sarjeant, 1967b]], p.250.&nbsp; Holotype: [[Deflandre, 1936b]], pl.6, fig.6.&nbsp; Originally <I>[[Palaeoperidinium ellipsoideum|Palaeoperidinium]]</I> (name not validly published), subsequently <I>Microdinium</I>, thirdly (and now) <I>Microdinium</I>?, fourthly <I>[[Palaeoperidinium ellipsoideum|Palaeoperidinium]]</I>?.&nbsp; [[Lentin and Williams, 1981|Lentin and Williams (1981]], p.187) retained this species in <I>Microdinium</I>.&nbsp; Questionable assignment: [[Lentin and Williams, 1976|Lentin and Williams (1976]], p.110).&nbsp; The name <I>[[Palaeoperidinium ellipsoideum]]</I> was not validly published in [[Deflandre, 1936b|Deflandre (1936b]]) since the generic name <I>[[Palaeoperidinium ellipsoideum|Palaeoperidinium]]</I> was not validly published until 1967.&nbsp; [[Williams et al., 1998|Williams et al. (1998]], p.401)  accepted [[Sarjeant, 1967b|Sarjeant's (1967b]]) indirect reference to [[Deflandre, 1936b|Deflandre (1936b]]) as indication of a type (I.C.N. Article 40.3).&nbsp; [[Lentin and Williams, 1976|Lentin and Williams (1976]], p.110) also proposed this name, as a new combination.&nbsp; Age: Late Cretaceous.
