Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Baltisphaeridium. Taxonomic senior synonym: Hystrichosphaeridium (now Achomosphaera) ramuliferum, according to Sarjeant (1983, p.97–99). This combination was not validly published in Downie and Sarjeant (1963, p.92), since these authors did not fully reference the basionym. Age: middle Miocene.
