Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Cordosphaeridium, thirdly (and now) Homotryblium. Taxonomic junior synonym: Homotryblium plectilum, according to Bujak in Bujak et al. (1980, p.64) — however, Stover in Lentin and Williams (1985, p.168) retained Homotryblium plectilum. Age: Early Tertiary.
