Originally Palaeohystrichophora, subsequently Palaeotetradinium, thirdly (and now) Rhombodella. Lentin and Williams (1981, p.242) retained this species in Rhombodella. Taxonomic junior synonym: Rhombodella natans, according to Stover and Evitt (1978, p.71). The nomenclatural type of the genus Rhombodella remains the holotype of Rhombodella natans. Age: Albian.
