Family Ptychodiscaceae

Citation: Ptychodiscaceae Willey and Hickson 1909.

Diagnosis:Ptychodiscaleans in which the motile cell is fundamentally gymnodinioid in shape, lacking specialized extensions or arms. The pellicle is formed primarily of cellulose or dinosporin and does not form a basket-like, peripheral skeleton.
