Originally Cleistosphaeridium, subsequently Areosphaeridium?, thirdly (and now) Reticulatosphaera. Taxonomic junior synonym: Reticulatosphaera stellata, according to Bujak and Matsuoka (1986, p.238). The nomenclatural type of the genus Reticulatosphaera remains the holotype of Reticulatosphaera stellata. Age: middle-late Oligocene.
