Citation: Gambierdiscoideae Fensome et al., 1993b. Diagnosis:Goniodomineans in which the posterior sulcal homologue is external to the sulcus, in which the ventral pore is lacking, and in which the motile cell is more or less strongly compressed anteriorly- posteriorly. Type genus: Gambierdiscus Adachi and Fukuyo, 1979. Extant genera: Coolia Meunier, 1919. (=Discodinium Dangeard, 1938; taxonomic junior synonym according to Sournia, 1986, p.75) Gambierdiscus Adachi and Fukuyo, 1979. Ostreopsis Schmidt, 1902.
