Originally Bonetocardiella, subsequently Pithonella, thirdly Obliquipithonella, fourthly Orthopithonella, fifthly (and now) Pirumella. Fensome and Williams (2004) considered this name to be not validly published on the incorrect basis that the generic name is not validly published. Age: Oxfordian–Kimmeridgian.
