Originally Pithonella, subsequently Obliquipithonella, thirdly (and now) Pirumella. Willems (1992, p.160) considered Pithonella (as Obliquipithonella, now Pirumella) krasheninnikovii to be the possible taxonomic senior synonym of this species. Age: Campanian–early Maastrichtian.
