Spore

The botanical equivalent to the zoological term cyst. The term spore, or its use as a suffix, is also employed to denote a multiplicative dispersal stage in which numerous cells are produced to distribute the organism, as in the terms aplanospore, planospore, dinospore and gymnospore.
