Subclass Gymnodiniphycidae

Dinophyceans in which: 1) amphiesmal vesicles are numerous and arranged nonserially or in more than six latitudinal series; or 2) the pellicle is the principal amphiesmal element; or 3) the amphiesmal structure is uncertain but does not comprise a theca divisible into six or fewer latitudinal series.
