In tabulations involving a sagittal suture, a single growth band, the megacytic growth band, is associated with this suture. The megacytic growth band is widest dorsally, gradually narrowing ventrally over the anterior pole and posterior pole and is narrowest, or absent, in the region of flagellar insertion.
