Tabulation

The term tabulation has been conventionally used to refer to the arrangement of thecal plates. However, since thecal plates occur within amphiesmal vesicles and since there is a continuum between forms in which the amphiesmal vesicles are devoid of thecal plates and those in which the amphiesmal vesicles contain thecal plates, tabulation can also be considered the arrangement of amphiesmal vesicles.
