Holotype: Deflandre, 1937b, pl.16 (al. pl.13), fig.6; Fauconnier and Masure, 2004, pl.23, figs.1-3. NOW Downiesphaeridium. Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Baltisphaeridium (Appendix A), thirdly Cleistosphaeridium, fourthly (and now) Downiesphaeridium. Age: Late Senonian.
