Originally Cleistosphaeridium polypes var. clavulum, subsequently Cleistosphaeridium polypes subsp. clavulum, thirdly Bacchidinium polypes subsp. clavulum, fourthly Impletosphaeridium polypes subsp. clavulum, fifthly Cleistosphaeridium clavulum, sixthly (and now) Impletosphaeridium clavulum.
