Holotype: Deflandre and Cookson, 1955, pl.7, fig.3. Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Baltisphaeridium (Appendix A), thirdly (and now) Diphyes. Taxonomic junior synonym: Diphyes pseudoficusoides according to Fensome et al. (2009, p.30). Age: early Eocene.
