Originally Hystrichosphaera, subsequently (and now) Hystrichosphaeridium?. Questionable assignment: Lentin and Williams (1981, p.147); and Masure and Foucher in Fauconnier and Masure (2004, p.313) as a problematic species. Age: early Eocene.
