Incidental plate

A term used by Evitt (1985) for one of one or two small plates adjacent to the anterior edges of the third and fourth precingular homologues (plates 4 and 5 in the Taylor-Evitt tabulation system) of the standard gonyaulacalean tabulation. Evitt (1985, p. 98) used the symbols K, Ki and Ku to denote such plates. Herein, incidental plates are labelled according to the standard Kofoid notations or, alternatively, with the Taylor-Evitt derivatives Bu and Ci. Refer to Text-Figures 84A-C,85A-C.
