Holotype: Bolli, 1974, pl.3, fig.9; pl.12, fig.9; pl.22, fig.3. Originally Pithonella, subsequently (and now) Orthopithonella. Taxonomic junior synonyms: Pithonella paratabulata, according to Keupp (1981, p.20); Pithonella pycnothecata and Pithonella tithonica, both according to Willems (1988, p.437) — however, Kohring (1993a, p.35) retained Pithonella (as and now Orthopithonella) pycnothecata. Age: ?late Aptian–middle Albian.
