Calcareous dinoflagellate genus (see Elbrächter et al., 2008, p.1299).  Fensome and Williams (2004) considered this genus to be not validly published because a type was not designated.  However, Elbrächter et al. (2008, p.1298) implied that this generic name can be considered validly published as it was proposed under the I.C.Z.N. Type: not designated; "type species" — Calcisphaerula innominata.
