<B><I>PIRUMELLA</I></B> [[Bolli, 1980]], p.528.&nbsp; Emendation: [[Streng et al., 2009]], p.242.&nbsp; Calcareous dinoflagellate genus (see [[Streng et al., 2004]], p.482-483 and [[Elbr&#228;chter et al., 2008]], p.1301).&nbsp; Taxonomic senior synonym: <I>[[Pithonella]]</I>, by implication in [[Keupp, 1981|Keupp (1981]], p.44), who considered the "type species" of <I>Pirumella</I>, <I>[[Pirumella edithvincentiae]]</I>, to be a taxonomic junior synonym of <I>[[Pithonella thayeri|Pithonella]]</I> (now <I>Pirumella</I>) <I>[[Pithonella thayeri|thayeri]]</I> - however, [[Lentin and Williams, 1993|Lentin and Williams (1993]], p.577) retained <I>Pirumella</I>.&nbsp; Taxonomic junior synonym: <I>[[Obliquipithonella]]</I>, according to [[Streng et al., 2004|Streng et al. (2004]], p.482), who included the type of  <I>[[Obliquipithonella]]</I> in <I>Pirumella</I>; see also [[Fensome and Williams, 2004|Fensome and Williams (2004]], p.461).&nbsp; Type: [[Bolli, 1980]], pl.4, figs.1-2, as <I>[[Pirumella edithvincentiae]]</I>.
