Originally Hystrichosphaera?, subsequently Spiniferites?, thirdly (and now) Spiniferites. Duxbury (1977, p.49) retained the species in Spiniferites without question. Questionable assignment: Lentin and Williams (1973, p.128). Age: late Hauterivian.
