Originally Hystrichosphaera furcata forma aulosphaeropsis, subsequently Spiniferites ramosus? subsp. aulosphaeropsis. Taxonomic senior synonym (at specific rank): Avellodinium falsificum, according to Sarjeant (1985b, p.156–157). The name Hystrichosphaera furcata forma aulosphaeropsis was not validly published in Wetzel (1933b), since the species combination, Hystrichosphaera furcata, was not validly published until 1937. Age: Late Cretaceous.
