Originally Hystrichosphaera, subsequently Spiniferites, thirdly (and now) Achomosphaera. Taxonomic junior synonyms: Achomosphaera recurvata and Hystrichosphaera (subsequently Spiniferites) membranosa, according to Quattrocchio and Sarjeant (1996, p.116). Age: early Eocene.
