Originally Hystrichosphaera furcata forma aulosphaeropsis, subsequently Spiniferites ramosus? subsp. aulosphaeropsis. Questionable assignment: Lentin and Williams (1973, p.129). Taxonomic senior synonym (at specific rank): Avellodinium falsificum, according to Sarjeant (1985b, p.156–157). The name Hystrichosphaera furcata forma aulosphaeropsis was not validly published in Wetzel (1933b) since the species combination Hystrichosphaera furcata was not validly published. Age: Cretaceous.
